Birthday fun at our playdate

Since my mom and Larry were planning to visit us in late September, we planned a family birthday celebration for Rylan this year... his first one! (Maylee has had a few family birthday celebrations already.)  He wanted to celebrate with friends also, so we added some birthday fun to our weekly playdate with at our place on August 26!  We've been meeting with this lovely group of local mamas and their kiddos for playdates for almost two years, and they are wonderful friends.  Ry Ry asked for a "Planes" theme, and we did several of his favorite things... a treasure hunt, paper airplanes, playing on the playground, water shooters and of course cupcakes!

Getting the first clue for the treasure hunt (I made 3 simple maps for each team of 2 kiddos... they are holding the first map with directions to find the second map... then one more map and a treasure bag at the end :) )

Alexa and Elliott figuring out where to go next...

Katie and Braley running to the next map!

Thomas and Andrew found their treasures!

Found it!!

Glider planes from the treasure bag

We had a "dig for buried treasure"... and hid coins and little airplanes in the sand...so fun! (I borrowed the idea from Joanie who did this for Ellie's party in July :) )

They found every last coin!

An airplane from the treasure dig

Paper airplane fun!

Great shot Jason got!  She insists on wearing her glasses upside down, since she says they stay on better that way!

Loving the little glider planes!

Cupcakes!

So excited!!

Yay!!!! Happy birthday Ry Ry!!  We love you!!!

Yum!

Water guns and shooters!

Love all their expressions in these!  They had a blast!

We had a perfect summer day to play, and celebrate Rylan and the end of summer!
